Coming Alive

Coming Alive documentary promotional image with group celebrating outdoors, "How to Heal the Mental Health Epidemic" text displayed

Logline:
In the aftermath of family tragedy, a young author goes on a wild quest to find a solution to the worst mental health epidemic in history. The Social Dilemma meets Super Size Me in this generation-defining investigation.

Long Description:
More teenagers are committing suicide than ever in American history. Last year, the CDC reported that nearly one in three high school girls have seriously considered killing themselves. And a recent Harvard study showed that 50% of young Americans are either depressed, anxious, or would rather not be alive. For the past two years, we’ve been filming a feature documentary to uncover the causes of this crisis and find a solution that is immediate, accessible, and scalable. What we’ve uncovered is — while most people think this problem is too complicated and the solutions are too expensive — we’ve learned that the problem is simple. And the solutions are free.

The intended grantee is vetted and pre-approved by the fiscal sponsor prior to any fundraising for the purposes of the project. So long as the grantee has not breached the fiscal sponsorship agreement, the fiscal sponsor will ordinarily grant the funds raised for the project to the grantee, less some agreed upon amount it retains as an administrative fee. While the fiscal sponsor has the variance power to direct such funds to another organization to advance the same charitable purposes, it has a business reason not to exercise such power except under egregious circumstances.*
